Reflection on Day One

Please take some time to comment on the day. What went well today? So what questions do you still have? Now what are your next steps?

For the most part the day went very well. I think I did a good job on organizing the day and how the presentation flowed. I think the activities were varied. I had most of the hand-outs made and the PowerPoint did a good job of guiding the class. I was glad that I had downloaded the video from DE streaming and had the PD 360 video in Real Player.
So next I will continue adding content to this blog for the class. The other classes I am teaching have a moodle. I would put one up for this class but I am out of time so the blog will have to do for now.
Now my next steps for ePortfolios are to fix my own portfolio and to put the content for the class up on the Moodle.

It was a really long day-but I am so excited that I now know how to hyper-link! What satisfaction when it works!! I think I have a good start on my electronic portfolio and can continue on my own.

Coming into this class, I just couldn't imagine how you could put so much information into an electronic format. Now, with your help, I do!! Seeing examples, hearing ideas, reading articles and having time to work is invaluable to this process. Thanks for a great day:) Dyan

Things went very well for the most part. I have a great start on my portfolio and this is a lot easier than I had orginally thought. I don't have any questions at this time but you have your contact info in the syllabus so it will be easy to contact you if I need. Creating this eportfolio will be something that I will work on all summer during my time indoors out of the heat.

I have a better idea of how to hyperlink and how easy it can be.
I need to get organized and be clear of how I want to set up my portfolio. What is important and relavent. Once I've done that it will make the process go quicker.

I am still learning how to do some of this stuff. At least I now know what everyone is doing with port folios. I am going to mess around with Vista before Friday's class and put port folio together. Then bring this to class as put it on the computer here. I hope get everything covered.

As the day has progressed I have felt more confident in regards to the eportfolio. I am overwhelmed but feel that things will become clearer as I work more with the program. I appreciate your humor and your helpfulness; it eases the confusion of those of us who are somewhat computer challenged. I have learned a lot today! Thanks!!

I like the way an eportfolio gives one the option to include videos and digital pictures instead of just paper documents. The linking feature is very convenient.

I'm stilll a little confused on getting everything organized and on what links go where and link to what items, so I'm glad to have a few days to play around with everything and think about my plans befor the next time that the class meets. I'm also glad to have the next few days available to decide what data points I will include at this time.

I was pretty overwhelmed wondering what this class would be like -- I am not the best on computer issues!!! But the instruction was understandable -- even to me!!! Thanks!! I am also thankful that the fact that the internet was down didn't really slow us down. I feel as though I actually have a start on my portfolio and an understanding of how to continue!!! I have no questions for now, but know I will on Friday!!! :)

Today really gave me some insight on the validity of electronic portfolios. The reflection of artifacts gives the teacher the ability to not only know where he has been but where he is going. The ability to hyperlink documents will be invaluable. Being able to create an electronic portfolio will be an invaluable tool for creating growth for both student and teacher. One aspect of the electronic portfolio is, creating self-esteem for teachers who use it,a valuable tool in today's world of education.

My goal of understanding and utilizing hyperlink was accomplished today. Although I am not a PRO, I think I am ready to begin the process of building my eportfolio.
Thank you for your talent and patience!!!!

I think the class went well, even with the internet glitch at the start of the day. I had a brief intro at our school maybe 3 years ago and felt overwhelmed at the time. I am not sure why, but I feel much more comfortable with it this time. Maybe the templates are better. Anyway, I feel I have a framework I can work with now and it will be just a matter of plugging in the Data Points. I do wish we could skip the reflection, but I have accepted that it will be better to just DO it when I first post items, when it is all fresh in my mind.

I have been told that our new principal wants ALL standards and benchmarks covered in our portfolios, so since I am being reviewed next year, I am taking this class JUST IN TIME!

It was a very productive day, and my only regret was not having enough artifacts with me. This has been an excellent course and I am so glad I took it. I hope you can offer a follow-up course.
